Gantt Printpreview for GroupCalendar for MS CRM 4.0

Filed Under() By alist

A new feature of GroupCalendar version 4.84 is a print preview of the Gantt View. This requires a small client side installation.

When you click on "Print Preview" in GroupCalendar on the bottom right corner, you'll see a message that the ActiveX control is not installed. You'll find the ActiveX in the GroupCalendar installation directory on the CRM Server in the subfolder ActiveX e.g. C:\Program Files\PTM EDV-Systeme GmbH\GroupCalendar for MS CRM 4.0\ActiveX

You need to run this installer on the clients which want to use the print functionality.

If you want to uninstall the ActiveX, run the installer with the parameter /u. e.g. RegisterActiveX.exe /u

Additional Steps for DCP 2011 Directory Security

Filed Under(DocumentsCorePack 2011) By alist

With the Directory Security Feature of DocumentsCorePack for MS CRM 2011 you could prevent users to see the files from CRM records which are not accessible for them. Users will not be able to navigate to the associated directory within the file share or SharePoint because DocumentsCorePack will overtake the security for you. In short words: when a user is not able to see the CRM record, he/she will also not be able to see the documents.

For a detailed description, please have a look at the documentation.

However, you have to do additional steps for the Directory Security.

Enabling SSL on IIS 7.0 Using Self-Signed Certificates

Filed Under() By alist

SSL enables browsers to communicate with a web-server over a secure channel that prevents eavesdropping, tampering and message forgery.  You should always use SSL for login pages where users are entering usernames/passwords, as well as for all other sensitive pages on sites (for example: account pages that show financial or personal information).

Configuring SSL on Windows with previous versions of IIS has been a pain.  Figuring out how to install and manage a certificate, and then associate it with a web-site, is something I bet most web developers don't know how to enable.
